On “Prinsjesdag” the Dutch government announced that it will provide funding of EUR 45 million to the BioMedical Materials program (BMM), reason for LSL in cooperation with LIOF, BOM and Syntens, to organize a presentation to introduce this program to all interested SME’s! What is BMM? Initiated by DSM and the
BMM’s mission is to create a technology platform to initiate the development of new biomedical materials that will achieve medical breakthroughs. The program will focus on the four priority disease areas: cardiovascular diseases, oncology (cancer), musculoskeletal (orthopedic applications), and nephrology, and on several enabling technology platforms, e.g. targeted drug delivery and biomedical coatings. The whole program will have a budget of 90M€ and will run for 5 years.
Besides DSM and the University of Maastricht, leading players in the consortium include Philips Research, Organon, Medtronic, FUJIFILM Life Science, Pharming, TNO (Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research), most of the leading universities and university medical centers in the Netherlands as well as representatives from several SME’s. All the players in this consortium will contribute their specific knowledge and expertise to this program, and a strong cooperation between the players is the an absolute necessity for the success of the program.
On October 18
the BMM program in TheaterHotel de Oranjerie in Roermond and invited the assembled SME's to participate and contribute new concepts that will be tested from the lab up to and including the proof-of-principle.
