Green Biotechnology17-11-06


 
On request of  the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of North Rhine-Westphalia, Senter Novem and Zenit GmbH organised the Green Biotechnology congress on November 17.  This congress will focus on Green Biotechnology as it is incorporated in the 7th EU Framework Programme (2007-2013) for Life Sciences and will highlight joint aspects and initiatives in the Traingle Maastricht, Liège and Aachen.
Among the speakers will be Life Sciences Limburg Chair, Dr. Fred Bollen whose presentation was titled: "Cooperation in Life Sciences in the Cross Border Triangle Region - Aachen, Lüttich and Maastricht" 
 
In this presentation he gave some striking examples showing the increasing cooperation between Life Sciences Limburg, LifeTec Aachen-Jülich and Bioliège in the regions of Maastricht, Aachen and Liège:
  • Transcend: Cross border product development support
  • Alma Grid: Collaborative research by Institute of Molecular Biology RWTH, Biomed Hasselt, Genomics Center Maastricht and Giga Liège

 Another striking example of cross border cooperation is off course the upcoming BIomedica 2007, an international conference  in the triangle of Netherlands, Nord Rhein Westfalia and Belgium (for more info http://www.biomedica/ 2007.com).jointly organised by the three life sciences associations.
