- Seed finance of international collaboration
Life Sciences Limburg took part in the international, Interreg IIIC, knowledge and technology transfer project Working In Networks (WIN). Within the program, the Bioregions Bavaria (Germany), Biovalley Basel (Switzerland), Aachen (Germany), the Biosaregion (Austria) and Limburg joined forces to establish an inter-regional experience and know how exchange platform. It provides a communication tool to spread information from the local bioregions to exploit synergetic effects and best practice solutions between the participating regions. The platform will be set up within an Interreg IIIC project. The project consisted of two phases - a “StructuralNetworking Phase” providing the basics for cross borderpartnerships and a “Technological Networking Phase”initiating cross border collaborations. As part of the technological networking phase, Life Sciences Limburg invitited the participating regions to the regional conference Biomedica 2007. Biomedica is co-organised by Life Sciences Limburg and proudly features the top-notch technology and knowledge of the bioregion "Meuse-Rhine Triangle- Heartbeat of Life Sciences". The first conference took place in Aachen in 2007, and will be held in Maastricht in 2008 and in Liege in 2009. During the conference, the project partners showcased leading companies and/or institutes which are keen on establishing relationships, networks and technology transfer with the other regions. In the course of the project, a series of events in Linz (May 2006), Basel (October 2006), Aachen (December 2006) and Munich (February 2006) have been held. The Maastricht conference, as set out above, was the last networking opportunity within the WIN project. The project ended in 2007.
